Name: Ilic, Dan
Q: What makes an idea “dangerous”?
Ideas become dangerous usually when they change the way things are done normally. People hate change especially when they’re invested in incumbency. Which is why my undies have holes in them.
Q: Which technological or scientific advancement excites you most?
The self driving car. I hate public transport, there’s too many “public” these days. Wearable computing is also cool, I’m generally in favour of any technological advancement that a) tracks me and my friend’s movements b) gives me more ways to consume photos of my friend’s adorable kids, then I could c) know where my friends are and avoid their snotty faced disease baskets.
Q: Which social or political movement scares you most?
I wish the Tea Party were really into Earl Grey, then that’s a movement I could get behind. If the Tea Party also drank tea that would make them more appealing, but I guess you can’t call your party the Moonshine and Crack Party and still be taken seriously.
Q: What’s the one thing you wish society better understood?
That there’s not too much to be scared of. If there was more knowledge, if people were exposed to things they’ve never heard of, they’d be less scared of everything. Fear is a commodity in our world that is sold to us. Generally people are pretty good. Even George Brandis is loveable, he must be. He’s well read and gets invited to a lot of weddings.
Q: Will the defining catastrophe of the next decade be natural or man-made?
Winter is never coming! Climate Change is still the number one fuck up that we’ll all have to deal with serious and sober faces, but I’m afraid our politicians are drunk on spurious promises. And I’m sure Celebrity Splash will probably get a second season.
Q: If you could outsource one part of your life, what would it be?
Numbers. I can order a round of drinks, but don’t make me remember the address of the bar, the table number or the date of the event where I’m meant to be ordering drinks.
Q: What’s your favourite book and why?
Matilda; it’s the story of someone who is given the gift of courage and a license to be themselves. In my mind there is no greater gift.
Q: What’s your favourite YouTube video? (For fun)
